The world of Simulation – 1989 moves beyond the daily time loop of the “glitch,” entering a new phase where the body shuffling has stopped. However, the characters now face the threat of the entire simulation being shut down and the appearance of a new, dangerous antagonist.
One half of the core couple, still dedicated to Ella in the post glitch world.
His “real” body outside the simulation has been located by Rosie and John.
Rosie describes his real world body as having graying brown hair, a balding front, a long face, pale skin, and a birthmark by his temple.
He often dismisses the danger, believing he and Ella have “accepted that our lives are here”.
Unlike Ben, her “real” body outside the simulation has not been located, making her the primary focus of Rosie’s rescue mission.
She is fearful about the new threats and is willing to “expose” herself as an anomaly to draw out Franco, believing Ben “deserves me to try” to get out safely.
The only real world character who can still identify people by their eyes, a critical skill that makes her the “best candidate” to navigate the current danger.
She successfully exited the simulation to the real world and returned to protect Ben and Ella.
She works with an external group (including John) to rescue simulants before outsiders shut down the system.
She is actively seeking Franco’s help to locate Ella’s real world body.
A man from an older simulation who is “digitally gifted” (he can create and build within a simulation).
He was kidnapped and is currently drugged in the real world.
He was being manipulated by real world outsiders, who used a copy of his wife, Cass, to try to convince him to destroy the current simulation.
He demonstrated the ability to create a protective, silent sphere of hardened air before disappearing into “the archive” (the past) to hide from the outsiders.
The 40 something blonde woman used by the outsiders to convince Franco to “remove this place” and end the simulation.
The primary antagonist engineered by the people with power to decrease the simulant population.
He kills simulants by touching them, taking their body and leaving the previous one lifeless on the ground.
He is relentless in his pursuit, constantly adopting new bodies.
He can sense an anomaly in the simulation, which allows him to track Franco.
The sister of another simulant who was killed by Chuck, causing her immense grief and a desire for revenge.
She has the crucial ability to identify an anomaly.
A friend of Ben and Ella, he is now “outside the simulation” and working with Rosie’s group.
His exit from the simulation via a simulated death was so traumatic that it caused him “endless nightmares” and he refuses to return.
He knows the location of Ben’s real body.
